"Son of Jor-El. Kneel before Zod!!!  After months of speculation Warner Bros. announced  that Michael Shannon will portray General Zod in Man Of Steel. This is the first time we have seen Warner's refer to the new Superman film strictly as Man of Steel. Just like Nolan decided to drop Batman from The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. When asked why he cast Shannon, Snyder elaborated.
Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role.”
Zod is a great enemy for the movie, he's as much a physical threat as he is cunning. Warner's is following the model originally established by Richard Donner in the 1978 Superman movie where they surrounded a new talent, Henry Cavill, with  A game talent. This is great casting. Shannon will bring the right presence necessary for Zod. Every casting announcement from this movie is making me more and more excited for this movie. I can't wait to see what comes next. What do you guys think of Zod being the villain, and of Michael Shannon's casting?
